The Pete Rose Scholarship
The Pete Rose Performing Arts Scholarship is named for one of CVP’s founding members. To qualify a student must have participated in the performing arts: vocal music, instrumental music or drama during high school. The award for each student is $500 and the scholarship program is completely funded by the CVP summer Youth Theatre. This year the Clarkston Village Players are proud to present scholarships to the following students:
CLARKSTON HIGH SCHOOL
Kathleen Amor has played flute in the Marching Band for all of her high school years. She was in the Teacher Cadet Program, was on the National Honor Roll and in the National Honor Society. Kathleen will be attending Michigan State University and studying Early Elementary Education.
Jenna Hart participated in all of the Performing Arts: instrumental, vocal and theater. She plays bassoon in the most select concert bands, pit orchestra, and chamber ensembles. She also played with the CMU Honors Band and the Detroit Civic Sinfonia Orchestra. Jenna sang with Bel Canto and the Madrigals. She also appeared in three high school theater productions. Jenna was on the National Honor Roll and in the National Honor Society. She will be studying Secondary Instrumental Music Education at the University of Michigan.
Jamie Keesling was an active participant in the Performing Arts and Visual Arts. She has sung in Mixed Chorus, Choralaires, Bel Canto, and Madrigals. She is a member of the Drama Club and has performed in plays and Theater-a-Thon. Jamie is a member of the Art Club and has worked on sets, designed the logo for the musical and has designed and painted two murals for the school. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Jamie has been accepted by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Colombia College. She wants to pursue a career in Visual Arts, Vocal Performance or English.
Christyn Reuter has been involved in Performing Arts through her study of piano and dance. She has studied piano for eleven years and is a member of the National Piano Guild. She performed as the featured dancer in two CHS musicals. She has received the All American Dancer Award from the National Dance Association three times. Christyn was a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending Michigan State University.
WATERFORD MOTT HIGH SCHOOL
Erin McCaffrey has participated in all of the Performing Arts. She has studied dance for four years, jazz, tap, and ballet. She has been in Concert Band, Concert Ensemble, and Chorus. Erin has also performed in three CVP Youth Theatre musicals. Erin is a member of the National Honor Society and was named a Waterford Foundation Select Fifty Honoree for 2004. Erin will be attending Central Michigan University studying for a degree in Physical Therapy.
Jeff VoVillia has been participating seriously in the Performing Arts for eight years. He was a member and president of Kettering?s Stagemasters, performing in several school productions. Jeff has also performed with Pontiac Theatre and has done three adult productions with CVP. Jeff was in eight Youth Theatre productions. Jeff will be attending Central Michigan University. He plans to stay involved with theatre arts.
Amanda Cowper has participated in all of the Performing Arts. She has been a member of the School Choir and Chamber Choir, has studied piano, and has been a member of the Thespian Troupe all through high school. Outside of school, she has a very impressive background in theatre. She has performed with Lakeland Players, D.A. Flint, and last year was in CVP?s adult production Cover of Life. Professionally, Amanda has performed with the Paperbag Productions and Meadowbrook Theatre. She has attended numerous acting workshops. She has directed a play and taught an acting class for elementary school students. Amanda plans to attend Western Michigan University and study Theatre Performance.
